Desafíos en la prevención del virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH): una investigación cualitativa con profesionales de la salud y atención comunitaria

Este artículo aborda los desafíos en la implementación de la política de prevención frente al virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) y otras infecciones de transmisión sexual, en España, desde los fundamentos teóricos de la sociología de la salud y el análisis de las políticas sociales. A través de un diseño cualitativo que comprende 25 entrevistas en profundidad con profesionales sanitarias y agentes comunitarios, se analizan las narrativas en torno al estigma asociado al VIH y la agencia de hombres gais y bisexuales que practican sexo con hombres (GBHSH). Los resultados evidencian que la expansión de la política sanitaria se ve limitada por la presencia de estigmas estructurales en el sistema sanitario y visiones de la salud basadas en la responsabilidad individual. Por otro lado, se identifican brechas formativas en la comunidad sanitaria con respecto a las nuevas realidades sexuales y barreras administrativas que limitan la atención sanitaria de la población migrante de GBHSH. El estudio concluye con una serie de recomendaciones que deberían orientar la política de prevención del VIH.
