Amnesia global transitoria y su relación con factores psicológicos y neuropsicológicos

Resumen

La amnesia global transitoria (AGT) es un síndrome que se produce en neurología clínica caracterizado por la manifestación de amnesia anterógrada severa y retrógrada moderada, con comienzo abrupto y duración máxima de 24 horas. En población general, dicho síndrome afecta cada año a entre 5 y 11 personas por cada 100.000 con edades cercanas a los 60 años. Esta afectación carece aún de suficiente investigación científica que permita prevenir su aparición e intervenir sobre ella, a pesar de que su estudio proporciona una potente fuente de información del funcionamiento cerebral. Entre su causalidad múltiple se encuentran factores neuropsicológicos y emocionales, que siguen estando presentes en su transcurso. En el presente estudio se pretende crear conciencia acerca de dichos factores a la vez que se ahonda en la AGT, sus componentes, características y cambios a nivel neuroanatómico, neuroquímico, conductual y emocional.
