The Discursive construction of hate and fear in contemporary Colombia

Abstract

An approximation, even a very modest one, to the processes of political argumentation that have occurred in the recent history of Colombia has to consider a minimum series of theoretical and methodological considerations. In this case these elements are present within the Critical Analysis of Discourse, more precisely arising from the rhetoric component, of multidisciplinary option. Methodologically, the historical and hermeneutic methods are considered essential to approach the argumentative processes in its double nature, empiric and discursive. The basic idea that I try to develop is that recently in Colombia there is a very emphatic resurgence of the conservative macro project that has marked the political history of the country. This macro project is based on the imaginary construction of hate and fear. I intend to sustain the former conclusion based on a collection of discursive pieces in the time lapse between 1991 and 2010.
