Resumen

El Trastorno por Déficit de Atención e Hiperactividad (TDAH) es un trastorno neuropsiquiátrico común que afecta tanto a niños como adultos, caracterizado por inatención, hiperactividad e impulsividad. En la actualidad, la etiología es desconocida. Por ello, existen cada vez más investigaciones multidisciplinares con el objetivo de identificar los factores de riesgo y mecanismos que influyen en su aparición. En relación a esto, recientemente ha aumentado el interés por el estudio del consumo de ácidos grasos, y como estos podrían desempeñar un papel en su desarrollo y manejo. De hecho, algún estudio refleja que la suplementación con ácidos grasos supone una mejora de los síntomas clínicos del TDAH. Por ello, el objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el consumo de ácidos grasos y su efecto en el TDAH mediante una revisión sistemática de la literatura científica. La revisión sistemática comenzó con una búsqueda bibliográfica en varias bases de datos, sobre la influencia del consumo de ácidos grasos y el TDAH. La metodología empleada para llevarlo a cabo fueron las pautas establecidas por el método PRISMA, encontrándose un total de veinticinco artículos seleccionados para su discusión. Los ácidos grasos analizados para estas investigaciones fueron los ácidos grasos omega-3, los omega-6 y los ácidos grasos de cadena corta. Los resultados de los artículos analizados reflejan cierta asociación entre el consumo de ácidos grasos y los síntomas de TDAH, así como de valores plasmáticos de micronutrientes. Sin embargo, las limitaciones del estudio dificultan la extrapolación de resultados ante la heterogeneidad entre los artículos analizados. Aunque hay algunas pruebas que sugieren una posible relación entre los ácidos grasos y el TDAH, la heterogeneidad entre los estudios impide llegar a conclusiones firmes, por ello, se sugiere realizar futuros estudios que determinen si existe realmente esta asociación.
