The aim of this article is to highlight the ecofeminist philosophy in this current context of health and ecological crisis that we have been undergoing for some time. Based on the assumption that the need for an epistemological paradigm shift is becoming increasingly evident in order to address the issue of global warming and thereby reduce the potential for new pandemic outbreaks, this article aims to argue why this new paradigm is so necessary, under what conditions, what this transition should be like and, above all, what ecofeminism has to offer in this social transformation. Ecofeminism is presented as a philosophy that seeks to eliminate from human episteme the structures of domination and exploitation given among human beings themselves (androcentrism) and between human beings and nature (anthropocentrism). These structures of thought are fostered and naturalized by cultural systems such as patriarchy and, from a mercantile and more recent point of view, capitalism. This dual system underpins today’s increasingly globalized societies. It is being shown that this way of looking at the world seriously threatens the life of this planet, both human and nonhuman. Humanity has the key to minimizing the consequences of this serious ecological crisis with no return point. Thus, this article defends the idea that the need to change course is imperative and that ecofeminism provides us with the appropriate tools of respect for others, equality and sustainability to make this transformation possible.References
