The article examines various data literacy initiatives globally and their application in higher education. It highlights the growing importance of these skills in the digital age, focusing on how existing programs, such as DaLI and ADILT, address specific aspects of data management and analysis. However, a lack of comprehensive programs is identified in universities, particularly in regions such as Latin America. In response, a data literacy program based on the DigComp 2.2 framework is proposed, including courses, workshops and self-learning resources, aimed at meeting the needs of students, teachers and researchers. This program seeks to close the gaps detected and promote more holistic training adapted to the challenges of the 21st century.
