Abstract

The social distancing that the Covid-19 pandemic has forced on humans demonstrates that a common space can be forge through virtual means. Exploring further a conceptualisation of a common space that can encompass nature and dwelling I draw attention to embracing a conceptualisation of common following the cosmos.

Following an auto-ethnography methodological approach, I exemplify how non-human actors (software systems and the SARS-CoV-2 virus) intervene in the production of human experiences of the city of Lima. I will argue that urban design could benefit by taking into consideration the constant reconfiguration and co-constitution of nature and culture welcoming a broader understanding of dwelling. This means to design with a cosmopolitical approach.
