Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Artificial Intelligence is already part of scientific publishing, and we are aware of its utilities and benefits. Therefore, it is important to clarify the following guidelines for authors, reviewers, and readers regarding its use in scientific manuscripts published in the UOU Scientific Journal:
The attribution of authorship carries responsibility for the content of the work, which cannot be effectively applied to Large Language Models (LLMs). For instance, ChatGPT does not meet our authorship criteria.
The use of an LLM must be appropriately documented in the Methods section of the manuscript (or in another suitable section if a Methods section is not available).
In cases where images are generated using AI techniques, these must also be properly documented in the corresponding section of the manuscript.
Using Turnitin, software, the Editorial Committee will review each case individually to determine its appropriateness, ensuring that no ethical conflicts arise.
Therefore, authors must disclose the use of AI tools, specifying in detail how they were used and at what stage of the research process and manuscript development they were employed. It will be at the discretion of the reviewers, the director, and the Executive Editor to determine whether the manuscript is acceptable for publication.
